The Blood Center hosts community blood drive

The Blood Center hosted a community blood drive today at Walmart on Bienville in Ocean Springs.

The Blood Center is a nonprofit organization that supplies blood and blood products to hospitals throughout the Gulf Coast.

With a demand to supply 350 units of blood every day to local hospitals, Coastal Region Coordinator of the Blood Center Gina Necaise encouraged anyone 17 and older to come out and donate. “Right now, during the summer our collections have dropped and until we get to the fall time when we get more high school, college type blood drives, we’re asking people to come out and donate at our community blood drives. Blood can’t be manufactured. It’s very important that we have people continue to donate every day. Your one donation can save up to three lives.”

The Blood Center will host another blood drive tomorrow at Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
