Blessing of the Fleet poster unveiled in Biloxi

The annual Blessing of the Fleet and festivities kicked off today!

The 94th annual Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet and Shrimp Queen contestants gathered at St. Michael Catholic Church in Biloxi for the unveiling of this year’s event poster. This is the first major event for contestants of the shrimp queen pageant as they prepare for the big day.

The king and queen have a rich family history in the local maritime industry, but this year, so did the poster artist. Poster designer Amber Trochesset said, “I feel really honored to be chosen. I feel like I’m honoring my ancestors in a way. My great grandpa Carl Charles Trochesset Sr. and Walter Strong were both shrimpers. Their names are actually on the golden fishermen.”

The poster design features the Biloxi Lighthouse, a shrimp boat, and St. Michael’s Church. The annual Blessing of the Fleet will be May 28th.
