Recap of Spring Break weekend on the coast
BILOXI, Miss (WXXV) – Spring break weekend has come and gone here on our Mississippi Coast, and Biloxi police say the number of spring breakers that came to our beaches was lower than last year.
With no sanctioned events for spring breakers to attend, it looked like a regular weekend here on the coast.
We caught up with Sergeant Candace Young with the Biloxi Police Department to ask about how operations went during spring break.
Sergeant Young says, “as far as spring break goes it was pretty uneventful. It was noticeably less people and traffic than we’ve normally seen in years prior. There were no sanctioned events in the city of Biloxi. All of the sanctioned events were outside the city so that maybe why we saw less crowds within the city. As far as numbers go, we wrote 133 less citations than last year and towed 15 less vehicles than we did last year so it was noticeably, definitely a smaller crowd.”
