Black Spring Break promoters respond to former promoter’s indictment

Current promoters of Black Spring Break express the importance of keeping safety first and communication with police strong.

This is following the recent indictment of former Black Spring Break promoter Keith Brown, who, according to authorities, was running a cocaine trafficking ring, lasting nearly a decade.

Federal authorities indicted Brown in Gulfport Monday for conspiring to distribute five kilos of cocaine during his time as a promoter for the event. Brown was a spring break promoter in Biloxi from 2009 to 2014.

Current promoters deny any affiliation with Brown and tell News 25 their mission is to keep Black Spring Break free of any form of dangerous activity.  Current Promoter Derrian Burns said, “We do everything within our power to keep an open line of communication with the Biloxi Police Department and the law enforcement and even the Sand Beach Authority. Safety is our number one concern with this event. You’re going to have a few bad apples, but my message to those bad apples is do what you’re supposed to do or Biloxi PD will take care of you.”

Black Spring Break runs April 13th through the 15th and promoters expect their biggest turnout yet.
