Biloxi Visitors Center is Booming w/ More Visitors Than Ever
The building is only three years old, but makes you feel as if it has a historic past. Bill Raymond, Biloxi Historical Association Administrator, says, "People walk in here and want to know whose house it was because they think it was an old house that we converted into the Visitors Center, and to me, that’s a big compliment."
The Visitors Center is catching on and has already surpassed last year’s numbers, and shows no signs of slowing down. Raymond also says, "On record, we’re going to exceed ‘prolly 30 to 35% in the number of visitors we’ve saw in the area."
The Visitors Center is the ultimate travel guide, full of information about local attractions and can help visitors find a place to stay if they’re a last minute guest. Raymond also says, "We still have a lot of people who come to town and they don’t have hotel reservations, so we help them with that and where they’re going to stay and eat and all that."
With baseball on the way, Raymond says he’s been in talks with the Main Street Group to find out how to bring events to the area and to the Visitors Center to make people stay longer than just the baseball game. Raymond closes, "Make sure people aren’t just going to the stadium, that they are experiencing all that Biloxi has to offer."
Thursday night, the Visitors Center kicked off Christmas in Biloxi with its annual lighting of the lighthouse.
