Biloxi VA Medical Center Director is leaving for new role in Arizona-
It was an emotional day for Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System employees as they said goodbye to their medical center director.
Bryan Matthews, medical center director, will be departing Friday to take on his new role in Phoenix, Arizona working at their veterans center.
Under Matthews’ leadership, there have been many accomplishments the healthcare center has celebrated which include a new simulation lab, established a tele-audiology program, and more.
Matthews, who usually does not stay longer than two years in the same place, has stayed on the Coast for five years.
He tells News 25 the move is unlike any other and will be difficult because he loves everything about the Coast. “It’s really an honor to have been able to serve the 82,000 veterans that we support. It’s been an honor to be a part of the Biloxi community. It’s been an honor to work with our outstanding veterans service organizations. It’s been an honor to work with our DoD partners and an honor to work with our over 3,000 employees.”
Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich presented a proclamation to honor Matthews for all he has done on the Coast.
