Biloxi Shuckers shortstop promoted to Colorado Springs

It only took Mauricio Dubon half a season to break the Biloxi Shuckers single season steals record and it didn’t take him much longer to get a promotion. Now, Dubon is just one step away from becoming the first born and raised Honduran player to ever make it to the show.
Today, the Milwaukee Brewers announced a series of roster moves, none bigger than Dubon getting called up to AAA Colorado Springs.
Prior to that, the five tool shortstop was leading all of AA baseball with 31 stolen bases. In the Southern League, his teammate Johnny Davis is next on that list with 20.
Speed kills, but second year Shuckers Manager Mike Guerrero attributes Dubon’s success to something that can’t be coached. “Instincts. Instincts, speed, the ability to get good jumps and read pitchers the right way. Take advantage of the pitching movements and he has those kinds of tools. A pretty good player that can affect the game different ways.”
Before his promotion to the Sky Sox, Dubon has appeared in 71 of Biloxi’s 73 games this season.
The Biloxi Shuckers took on the Mississippi Braves tonight, playing some free baseball. Braves break the tie in the top of the 11th and win 4-3.
