Biloxi Shuckers pipeline to the show
Next up on the growing list of former Biloxi Shuckers that have gotten the call up to the show this season is the catcher of the future Jacob Nottingham.
He was recalled from Triple AAA Colorado Springs yesterday. Tonight, he’s making his first-ever start with the Milwaukee Brewers.
He’ll be joining the likes of Orlando Arcia, Josh Hader, and Taylor Williams that have all grinded out their fair share of innings on the Gulf Coast. Even Shuckers products like Brett Phillips, Brandon Woodruff, Jorge Lopez, and Adrian Houser have all made stops at the Major League level this season and they’ve all experienced relative success against the best of the best.
Biloxi Shuckers Ambassador Barry Lyons says that’s his favorite part of Double AA baseball, especially in Biloxi. “Well, that’s what AA is. It’s the greatest level of minor league baseball for many reasons, and so the fans get to see the top prospects of every organization from all the teams that are in the league. But to see these guys go from here to the big leagues and to hear them say oh he just got called up from Biloxi or he played in Biloxi last year and he’s doing great things at the Major League level such as Arcia, it makes me proud, it makes this community proud and it certainly makes the Shuckers organization proud to see these guys ascend to higher levels, and there’s nothing higher than Major League Baseball.”
In his debut yesterday, Nottingham drew a pair of walks and scored a run. Tonight, he went 0-3 with three ground outs.
