Biloxi Shuckers host Pensacola Blue Wahoos Wednesday
The say there’s no place like home and after dropping their last two games on the road, the Biloxi Shuckers would have to agree.
Starting tomorrow they’ll break in MGM Park for the first time in 2017 with a five game series versus the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
For a lot of players on the roster, opening day in Biloxi won’t be anything out of the ordinary, but that’s not the case for all the newcomers. Even after last Tuesday’s exhibition game versus William Carey, fresh faces like Mauricio Dubon and Art Charles are still in awe over their new digs. Biloxi Shuckers Manager Mike Guerrero said, “If you don’t have that tickles in your stomach for getting ready, I think you’re in the wrong business.”
Shortstop Mauricio Dubon said, “Oh, I mean I saw it and I’m like oh boy. That’s nice, that’s nice. I can’t wait to start playing here and everything, but I mean it’s nice.”
First baseman Art Charles said, “I love it. I mean first of all I love the beach, so just having the beach so close is pretty cool. You know, playing by the water. We’re in a good area. Like you said, the Beau is over there, the casino and you know just some other little things around the field as well. But the field as a whole is great. The playing surface is unreal. Big ups and shout out to the grounds crew”
Tomorrow’s game is set for 6:35 at MGM Park. The Shuckers come in with an overall record of 3-2.
