Biloxi Shuckers face Mississippi Braves in home opener
When the Atlanta Braves began their playoff journey to eventually become World Series champions, they first had to go through the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS.
So, it seems fitting that the Double-A affiliates of the Braves and Brewers are doing battle just a few months later in the first week of the 2022 Minor League Baseball season.
Welcome back to MGM Park, Biloxi Shuckers making their home debut against the Mississippi Braves, coming in with a mark of 3-0, leading the Southern League in runs per game.
Shuckers win the home opener 6-4. Shuckers Infielder Noah Campbell said, “Yeah, being in Biloxi is really awesome. Like I’ve said a couple times, it’s a great group of guys and I mean we really gel and these guys can really hit. I mean guys I played with last year – Wiemer, Zamora, McGee and Valerio. And then guys that I didn’t get to play with – Dillard, Mitchell, Lutz – I mean everybody on this team can hit, and just because we gel, I think it’s exciting to see what this team can do, so I’m really looking forward to seeing all of that.”
The Shuckers return to action for game two tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. for Military Wednesday.
