Biloxi Shuckers celebrate 10 year Anniversary with a big win!
Every day is an exciting day at Keesler Federal Park, but Friday, June 7th was extra special! The Biloxi Shuckers celebrated their 10 year anniversary!
The first 1,000 fans received rally towels, Chef Terrell Warren served up the “Frisbee Feast” for one night only, and the original members of 2015 Front Office staff we recognized for being here since the start! The fans were out in full force celebrating their favorite team in the biggest way! And speaking of their favorite team, what’s a celebration without the Biloxi Shuckers?
The Shuckers hosted the Montgomery biscuits for game four of the home stand. Mississippi State Alum KC Hunt with the start, and he starts off hot, going three up three down and ending with it with a punch out. Neither team are able to get things going at the plate, but the Montgomery biscuits strike first with the leadoff single by Gregory Barrios in the third. Two knocks later and Homer Bush Jr sends Barrios home, making it one 1 to zero for the Biscuits, but that’s all they’ll get thanks to another strikeout by Hunt, stranded two ducks on the pond.
The Shuckers weren’t fans of being down on their anniversary, and acting quickly was Matthew Wood with a leadoff to right field. Close behind him was Jheremy Vargas… Vargas sends a slow bouncer between short and third and the wheels win this one. Shuckers now at first and second. How quickly can the Shuckers clear the bases? Just ask infielder Luke Adams. He smokes this one deep into left center field, 109 mile per hour off the bad and that thing is out of here! Luke Adams with a three run home run and the Shuckers take a the lead 3 to 1 after four complete innings. The Shuckers would tack on two more in the fifth and that’s all they would need, defeating the Montgomery Biscuits 5-2.
The Shuckers win the day and close out their 10th anniversary in style with some post-game fireworks! Congratulations to the Biloxi Shuckers on an outstanding decade of baseball!
