Biloxi Shuckers announce Heart of a Shucker Community Fund
The Biloxi Shuckers announced its new Heart of a Shucker Community Fund on Monday.
This fund will donate money during each homestead to organizations from as far as Mobile to New Orleans, but with a strong focus on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The idea for the fund started in October 2022 and was anticipated to take three to five years to come to fruition, but when the Shuckers’ new management came into the picture, the project was fast-tracked.
Here’s how it will work: Each season the Shuckers will pick a general focus and organizations that fall within the scope of that focus can apply.
This season the Shuckers will be supporting youth sports.
David Blackwell, community relations manager for the Biloxi Shuckers spearheaded the fund and explains why the Shuckers wanted to create the program, “We’re proud to call Biloxi home. Not just Biloxi, but the entire Gulf Coast. We wanted to do our part investing in that Gulf Coast community… in different ways that we could support, different organizations, different non-profits, that are really doing the hard work around changing lives.”
This means that every time you enjoy a day at a Shuckers game– you will be supporting local organizations.
The first donation will be made Friday, July 15th at the home game against the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
