Biloxi Shortstop making noise at spring training

Back in December, the Milwaukee Brewers made a trade with the Boston Red Sox and boy did they get a good prospect in return. Now Mauricio Dubon is getting the chance to show his new team just how good he really is.
The ball might have sailed a little bit high, but even Derek Jeter would have to give the old tip-of-the hat to that jump throw. Dubon was on assignment to the Biloxi Shuckers following that trade, but recently he’s been getting some run with the big league club out at spring training.
Not only can he flash some leather, Dubon can swing the bat as well. “I couldn’t plant my feet because he was going to be safe either way. I mean I just grab it and throw it. I mean I made that play a couple times in high school, made it a couple times in pro ball, and I mean I just felt confident about it,” said Dubon.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell said, “I like that play. It was a good play. I think it just surprised us a little bit. That’s really an athletic play. It shows great body control and it shows great arm strength. It’s just you love to see a player that’s just able to complete a play like that because it’s just a sign that there’s not too much at shortstop that he’s not able to do.”
Dubon was originally drafted in the 26th round by the Red Sox in 2013. Last year he played 62 games with their AA affiliate the Portland Seadogs where his batting average was .339.
