Biloxi Prepares for Black Beach Weekend
Officials in Biloxi are hoping to get a handle on traffic this weekend. Police Chief John Miller plans to speak to the council on ways to help relieve heavy traffic.
Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi says that many barricades will be in place at key intersections where travelers won’t be able to turn left in order to keep traffic moving. If traffic becomes too terrible, police will have to vent the traffic by making them go forward until they reach the interstate. Creel also advises those who don’t need to travel this weekend to stay off of Highway 90.
“We’re asking people that if they don’t have a reason to be on highway 90, local traffic, they might want to use Pass Rd or an alternate route. What we have is a traffic plan that we use for events like Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day and Cruising the Coast. We’re going to be implementing our traffic program, our traffic plan, this weekend."
