On Thursday, Biloxi Police tried to make an arrest of a Gulfport man on drug charges and ended up in a pursuit down Highway 90.

The chase ended in the arrest of 39-year-old Errol Otis and 24-year-old Miranda Hannon-Mayer of Louisiana.

Otis was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver: cocaine, felony eluding, two counts of child endangerment and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Bonds were set at $175,000. Hannon-Mayer was charged with two counts of child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $125,000. Both were taken to the Harrison County jail.

Police said investigators with the special crimes unit approached Errol, who was sitting in a parked car in the 100 block of Beach Boulevard on Thursday afternoon. He was seen packaging what looked like cocaine into individual bags. When officers tried to make contact, Errol began to flee. An investigator reached in the vehicle and grabbed a bag containing the alleged cocaine from Otis’ lap.

Otis fled west on Beach Boulevard, running red lights and throwing out bags of alleged cocaine from the window.  Police employed spike strips to end the pursuit at Beach Boulevard and Porter Avenue.

Otis and Hannon-Mayer  were taken into custody. Two children, ages 3 and 4, were found in the back seat of the vehicle and removed to safety.
