Biloxi Police Department preparing for National Take Back Day
A police department in Harrison County is gearing up to help you get rid of your prescription drugs.
This Saturday from 10 to 2, the Biloxi Police Department will be participating in the 25th Annual “National Take Back Day.”
It’s a campaign the police department participates in twice a year, helping the public safely dispose of unused or unwanted prescription drugs – no questions asked.
During the last National Take Back in April, 235 pounds of prescription drugs was collected.
“The initiative’s to claim any kind of old unused, unwanted medication, because last year unfortunately we had an estimate, 100,000 opioid deaths throughout the nation,” said Officer Jeff Langlinais. “So we’ll take the medications no questions asked and we’ll destroy it. Some medications that we don’t accept are in the forms of sharps, we don’t take inhalants, we don’t take liquids.”
If you’re unable to make the event, there is a green metal box located in the front lobby of the Biloxi Police Department to drop off prescriptions.
The public has 24/7 access to that metal box.
