Biloxi Mother Stabs Three Year Old

A Biloxi mother is in custody after stabbing her three year old child multiple times. The Gulfport community is left wondering why and how something this gruesome could happen.
“I see the medic come and he’s flying. I mean, just jumps across and flies over here to Jones Park. I slow down and see the fire truck out here and I’m like ‘it is something really bad going on.’ When I got to work I told them, I said, ‘ something really bad happened at Jones Park because it is full of police, ambulance and fire trucks out there,” said Gulfport resident Shonta Love.
Love was right. Just after 11 o’clock last night, Jones Park, a place where residents come to enjoy the outdoors, became the site of an unthinkable crime scene. Sergeant Damon McDaniel with Gulfport PD said, “The mother allegedly stabbed her three year old in the abdomen.”
Not once, not twice but authorities say Nomatter Gava-Hudson stabbed her own child multiple times. The father, also there, screamed for help.
“To stab your own child, something must be mentally wrong, that’s all I can say. For you to go and actually pull a knife on a three year old baby that cannot protect herself, something is wrong,” said Gulfport resident Chyna Watts.
Gulfport police are not saying what object Gava-Hudson used to stab her child or whether the young victim was a boy or a girl. Residents like Chyna Watts, who brings her daughter to the park every night for dance practice, says this horrific crime is disturbing on many levels.
Families bring their kids here to Jones Park to play, sometimes until after dark but some are saying that may all change after last night’s incident. “We usually stay out here until like 8, 8:30-ish but now once it gets dark, I think we need to go in,” said Watts.
While there are still unanswered questions surrounding this tragic scene, the investigation continues. Meanwhile, parents and the community grapple to understand what would drive a mother to harm her own child.
Gava-Hudson is currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $1 million.
