Biloxi man sentenced for role in human trafficking operation

Malik Causey

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- A Biloxi man has been sentenced to 50 years behind bars for his role in a human trafficking operation involving a minor.

Twenty-six-year-old Malik Causey will have to serve 27 of those years without the possibility of parole or early release.

Prosecutors say Causey led a trafficking operation that targeted vulnerable victims. Investigators found that during the summer of 2023, multiple adult women and a 14-year-old runaway were contacted on social media and later forced into commercial sexual activity at hotels in Gulfport and Biloxi in exchange for food and lodging.

Authorities say Causey controlled the operation, setting prices, arranging hotel rooms, and tracking profits.

During the trial, Causey admitted to engaging in prostitution and said it was never his intent to involve a minor in his prostitution ring.
