Biloxi man charged in Gautier burglary, assault case
A Biloxi man is in Jackson County jail, charged in connection with an aggravated assault and burglary casein Gautier.
Police Chief David Bever said 23-year-old Justin Sims has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary. He was taken to the Jackson County jail. No bond has been set.
On Monday about 5:56 a.m., police received a report of gunshots in the 3600 block of Mackeral Drive. Officers found a victim with a non-life-threatening head injury at the residence. The victim was treated by paramedics on scene.
Sims was found in the backyard of the residence holding a firearm. Officers told him to drop the weapon and he complied before being take into custody.
During the investigation, detectives determined Sims had slashed tires of multiple vehicles parked at the residence and fire several round into the front door to try to gain entry into the home. Failing that, he entered through the back door, then began physically assaulting a resident of the home.
Multiple shots were discharged in the home, but no one was struck.
