Biloxi Main Street kicks off August with First Friday Block Party

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — South Mississippians flocked to Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Friday evening to kick off the month of August with the First Friday Block Party.

This monthly event featured opportunities to shop, grab a bite to eat from a handful of food trucks and enjoy live music from bands Snow Day and Hip Pocket.

Craft vendors sold a variety of goods, from soaps and candles to candy and artwork. Kacie Parrott, the owner of Parrott’s Nest Candle Company, was a first-time vendor at the event.

“I love the free events,” Parrott said. “I love going out to the events also and meeting new vendors. It’s a good way to network and talk to people and find other new events.”

On the other hand, plenty of vendors take part in First Friday each month. Fairy Runa, who threads tinsel in hair for Finklepotts Fairy Hair, shared what she loves about the block party.

“It’s lovely,” Fairy Runa said. “You get to meet so many different kinds of people and have fun and everybody’s selling so much goodness. We have nuts and food and burgers and soaps, so lots of different vendors and really good music.”
