Biloxi, Long Beach rally support to help son of Coast officers

‘Healing for Hendrix’ is the rallying cry for the 6-year-old son of two South Mississippi police officers who is beginning a brave battle.

Hendrix Branning is the son of Justin and Amanda Branning, officers serving Biloxi and Long Beach police departments, respectively.

Last week, Hendrix was taken to the ER when he felt dizzy and lost normal function of his right arm and leg.

After extensive testing, the doctors believe he’ll likely be diagnosed with some sort of glioma — a malignant tumor affecting the nervous system.

The Biloxi Police Department is rallying around Hendrix and the Branning family with a fish fry fundraiser. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, you can get a fish or shrimp plate for $10 to help out the family. The plates will be sold at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center on Porter Avenue in Biloxi.

Capt. Tom Goldsworthy says members of the Biloxi department and local businesses already have gone above and beyond to support Hendrix and the Branning family.

In addition to the fish fry, businesses in Long Beach will be donating a percentage of all sales on Saturday to the Branning family in a city-wide fundraiser.

Long Beach Police posted on their social media that these businesses are participating: BagelBees, Bankhouse Coffee, Cajun Gourmet, Coastal Daiquiri, Dolce Bakeshop, Forget Me Not Florist & Gifts, Harbor View Cafe, Live Oak Skin & Waxing, Long Beach Market & Deli, Long Beach Nutrition, Mockingbird Lane, Oil Plus, Radish, Simply Jane Clothing Co., Sister Swank Boutique, Southern Living Assistance, Sunshine Nutrition, The Coffee Box – Long Beach and What’s Your Stitch.
