The Biloxi Lions Club Mother of the Year

Every year, the Biloxi Lions Club chooses a mom who has gone above and beyond in the community to be the Mother of the Year.
Tears were shed and emotional speeches were given during the presentation today. Biloxi resident Paula April received the club’s Mother of the Year award. Paula is a long-time tourism leader in Biloxi. She volunteers and is involved in various organizations within the community.
The Biloxi Yacht Club was filled with Lions Club members, Paula’s family and city officials as Mayor FoFo Gilich presented Paula with the award.
Paula tells News 25 how it feels to be Mother of the Year. “Unbelievable. You know, it’s always nice to be thanked and to be told you’re loved, but to hear it in front of people and unexpected to hear it, it’s got to make anyone feel fabulous to hear your children and your friends and your grandchildren say ‘I love you.’”
A few places Paula volunteers at are Gaston Point Elementary School, the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, Our Lady of Fatima and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
