Biloxi kicks off Mardi Gras with 12th Night Celebration
Last night, the City of Biloxi marked the beginning of Mardi Gras season with the 12th Night Celebration.
In an event that was postponed due to last week’s rain, Mayor FoFo Gilich and the 2023 Mardi Gras Royalty turned off the city’s Christmas lights and turned on the purple, green, and gold lighting.
The festivities also included free king cake, a presentation of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association 2024 flag bearers, and music by the Bucktown All-Stars. Queen Ixolib Abby Raworth said, “Today, we are at 12th Night. It is the start of Mardi Gras, and we are here to shut the Christmas lights off and turn on purple, green, and gold and celebrate with the community the start of Mardi Gras.”
