Biloxi Junior High student brings weapons to campus

A Biloxi Junior High student has been arrested for bringing weapons to campus, the district said in a press release.

Superintendent Marcus Boudreaux sent a note out to parents this afternoon notifying them that a student reported that another student had a weapon on campus.

The incident happened about noon time.

School administrators and resource officers immediately searched the student in question. An unloaded gun and two knives were found in the student’s backpack.

The gun was in poor shape, Boudreaux said, and resource officers struggled to force the weapon to properly engage.

The student made no threats.

The student was arrested and will be disciplined according to district policy.

“We want to thank the student that made the report and continue to encourage all students to report any unsafe situation to a trusted adult,” Boudreaux said.

A student found to be in possession of a weapon on campus is subject to suspension and possible expulsion.
