UPDATE: Biloxi make arrest in Sunday night shooting on Greater Avenue

On Sunday, December 3, 2023 around 8:13 pm, the Biloxi Communications Center received a report of an altercation between two family members in the 1900 Block of Greater Avenue.

Due to the call for assistance, Biloxi Patrol Officers responded to the area. As officers responded, the Communications Center received additional calls about the altercation, to include a complaint of a gunshot being heard in the area.

Officers later arrived on scene and found a male in his 30’s suffering from a gunshot wound. Members of American Medical Response (AMR) responded and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect, 25 year old LaAlton Darnell Cooley of Gulfport, was arrested on scene and charged with aggravated assault.

Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain was notified of the incident and set Cooley’s bond at $250,000. He was later taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and booked.

At the time of this release, the victim is listed as critical, but stable.
