Biloxi Historical and Cultural Expo

It’s Coast History Week and Biloxi, Mississippi dates back to the French and Spanish colonization of early America which makes for a whole lot of history.
The former capitol of French Louisiana, witness to some of the worst hurricanes ever recorded, and home to the Barq’s Root beer formula, this barely scratches the surface of what was once the seafood capitol of the world and is still a popular destination for vacationers.
You can learn more about the rich heritage of Biloxi this Friday and Saturday at the Biloxi Civic Center during the city’s Historical and Cultural Expo. Cecilia Dobbs Walton with Biloxi Public Affairs said, “Actually on February 13th, Mardi Gras, the City of Biloxi celebrated its 319th birthday. So 319 years is a long time with a lot of history so it’s just something that the City of Biloxi likes to celebrate. It’s important for anybody to know their history or to know the history of an area and it is an attraction, a lot of people will go to a lot of different cities for historical information.”
Over two dozen organizations are taking part in this year’s event which is free to the public. The expo runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. this coming Friday and Saturday.
