Biloxi High swim team excels at state championship

The Biloxi High School swim team has returned home after the Mississippi High School state championship with some new hardware in hand.

Multiple swimmers snagged the top spots in their divisions including the men’s 400 freestyle relay. The four swimmers in the relay moved up five places from last year, placing third in the state.

With a year of hard work, the relay team was able to shave 9 seconds off their time to move up in the ranks.

Relay member Charles Crocker tells News 25 the only they could have accomplished this was by working together. “At state, none of us could really get it done individually, but we come together as a team better than any other team at the meet. We go together just perfectly and we can get the job done that way. Nobody believed we could do it, but when we were in our huddle we knew we could do it.”

The program will only be graduating one senior at the end of the year, making their chances for success next year look even brighter.
