Biloxi High students bring Christmas joy to the Coast through ‘Project Presents’
Biloxi High School Students, with some help from Santa, were spreading Christmas cheer as they delivered presents to children across the community.
Nearly 30 Biloxi families were greeted Friday afternoon with a truckload of gifts as Biloxi High School’s Campus Service Council made their rounds in the community for their annual Project Presents program.
Bigger and better than ever, the service group was able to give over 80 kids the Christmas of their dreams. Campus Service Council President Madeline Pitre said, “There’s always instances where sometimes people can’t have the Christmases that they dream of as children because of whatever situation arises and we love doing this because we’re able to make this dream Christmas for every single child.”
Almost as excited as the children to see presents piling up under the Christmas trees were the parents. Biloxi Schools Campus Police Assistant Chef/ CSC Advisor Daisy McCarroll said, “We’ve had several families we continue to deliver to every year and when I call them, they know that phone call and they’re just super excited that we’re going to be able to help that family out.”
Two months of preparation goes into making delivery day a success. The Campus Service Council begins picking families and reaching out to organizations for donations at the end of October. “This year we just had an overwhelming amount of people who just wanted to give back this year and it was amazing.”
The whole experience is just as rewarding for those giving as it for those receiving. “I really just love coming to all these houses and talking to all these different people and making a difference in their lives, making their Christmas special.”
