Biloxi Fire Museum celebrates 25 years
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — The Biloxi Fire Museum will be marking 25 years with a big celebration on Friday.
The fire museum calls the fire station on Howard Avenue home, and for 25 years, the museum has shared over 100 years of history, and will continue to share stories from those in the future.
Founder and former Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney says the museum came to fruition after the realization that the city needed a way to preserve the fire department’s history — to keep it alive for future generations.
The fire station was in need of a lot of work, but Boney and a group of firefighters put in the effort to restore the building, turning it into what you see today.
Decades-old log books sit in cases, listing every answered call. Another book contains the names of every single Biloxi firefighter from the 1800s to today’s current employees.
Since the beginning, Boney has put his heart and soul into every aspect of the museum and says he’s excited to have everyone come out to celebrate the milestone.
The museum will host a gala to celebrate the anniversary on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be live music, food, and refreshments.
The Fire Museum only asks that each attendee make a $25 donation at the event. Click here for more information.
