Biloxi fire injures three people
Three people were injured including a firefighter after a building in Biloxi catches fire.
The fire fully engulfed a two story building at Maple and First Street behind Harrah’s around 10:30 this morning. Four engines, a ladder, and about 24 firefighters responded to the call. It took about an hour to control the blaze which is believed to have started on the first floor.
The injuries did not appear to be serious and the injured firefighter continued to work even after burning his hand. Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said, “These guys don’t like to leave the job, I mean that’s what they do. They’re conditioned and trained to fight fire and it is quite a hard job to do physically and they learn to put a lot of those injuries in the back of their mind and continue to work. We took him off and sent him to the hospital though.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
