Biloxi Fire Department kicks off ‘Fill the Boot’ campaign

Starting today, for three days, the Biloxi Fire Department will be out on the streets asking for your help to ‘Fill the Boot,’ continuing a 65 year tradition for the department.

They started bright and early this morning, taking up donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year, they raised over $13,000.

‘Fill the Boots’ is an international campaign which is a signature fundraiser for MDA. These donations have gone to help fund groundbreaking research and programs for those affected by MDA in South Mississippi and across state lines. Deputy Chief Andy Mason said, “With us and our police officers, we got some police officers out here, too. We feel like that we, as examples of the community, should be on the forefront of anything to do with helping children out. This is something that really hits close to home with any of your children that is involved with this terrible disease.”

They will be out again on Tuesday on Popp’s Ferry Road at Pass Road from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday on Cedar Lake Road and Popps Ferry at the same times.
