Biloxi Fire Department honors retired department mechanic

Longtime Biloxi Fire Museum supporter and retired Fire Department Mechanic Sammy Handler passed away Thursday.

The 62-year-old grew up on the Biloxi Back Bay and had an affinity for fire trucks, owning them and telling the history of them.

Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney placed a black wreath on the front of the Biloxi Fire Museum in honor of his dear late friend.

A visitation for Handler will be held Tuesday at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
