Biloxi files supplemental motion in Point Cadet rent issue

The City of Biloxi claims state legislature violated the Mississippi constitution by taking money owed to the city to cover state budget shortfalls in 2016.
The city is now seeking $600,000 in Point Cadet rent money for the land the Golden Nugget sits on. Biloxi claims House Bill 878, a bill that moved $18 million from the Secretary of State’s office funds to general funds, was passed within five days of the end of the legislative session.
Officials claim that movement violates the state constitution and argues the account associated with Point Cadet was secretly added to House Bill 878 through a phantom-authored memo.
