Biloxi to Enforce No Firework Zone

Lighting fireworks on a popular beach area in Biloxi will no longer be tolerated according to Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich.
The days are counting down until the city’s annual Fourth of July firework show. City leaders are trying to get the word out that the beach area from the small craft harbor to Oak Street is a firework free zone.
Mayor Gilich tells News 25 people have gotten away with lighting fireworks in this area in the past. He says recent incidents have caused the city to step up procedures this year, making sure people can feel safe sitting on the beach enjoying the show. “The experience for the Fourth of July, Independence Day, you just want to put your lawn chairs out on the beach and just watch the fireworks. Maybe next year we’ll have a symphony on the barge, centered around there and we have all this music. You don’t want fireworks going on near the bandstand or near the orchestra stand.”
Mayor Gilich also tells News 25 the city is working on adding some temporary lighting and new parking spots for this year’s fireworks show.
