Biloxi considers asking for additional 2% on city’s hotel tax

The Biloxi City Council will consider asking the state legislature to approve an additional 2% on the city’s hotel tax.

Mayor Fofo Gilich says the additional revenue would be used to pay for things like extra manpower for parades and special events, as well as equipment such as barricades.

If the city council approves the request unanimously, a local and private bill will go before the state legislature requesting the additional 2%.

If that passes the legislature, the residents of Biloxi will then be asked to vote on the proposal before it takes effect.
