Biloxi Community Market ready to spring into a busy season

For more than 45 years, Biloxi’s Community Market has been providing area residents with fresh produce, plants, crafts, and homemade goodies.

Despite it being in the 50s this morning, vendors were selling their products under the I-110 overpass on Howard Avenue.

Spring is the busiest season for the market and Market Manager Tina Cowart has seen the number of vendors double. In fact, she’s hopeful the market will be back to its pre-COVID glory.

Due to space restrictions, the market has had to reduce the number of vendors significantly and have been building back ever since. Cowart said, “We had to lessen our vendor count. We brought it down to nine then everything a little more was lifted. We brought it up to 18 then 26 and we held there until today. I’m hoping that we get this place filled.”

The community market officially reopens for business April 5th. It is open Tuesdays and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To become a vendor, it is $125 to rent a spot for the whole year. Reach out to the City of Biloxi’s Parks and Recs Department for details.
