Biloxi Community Market grows as more vendors participate

The Biloxi Community Market has seen a recent surge in vendors.

During the pandemic, the market would have anywhere from 9 to 15 vendors, but today they have nearly 80!

Before the pandemic, the market averaged about 60 vendors.

After an age of only shopping in a grocery store with limited items, more people have been visiting the market which is likely why more people are setting up booths.

Market Manager Tina Cowart says this boom is amazing because it means farmers and local businesses are feeling supported. “Supporting each other. That’s what it’s all about. And you come out to these open-air markets, you walk through, you leave here, and you have a whole different attitude about it. They’re hard workers, they really are. They work the fields. They go out and bend over and they’re picking these things out of the ground. So, it’s not something that’s being brought in on a truck. It’s coming from their blood, sweat, and tears so to speak.”

The community market is located under the I-10 overpass on Howard Avenue. There is a festival scheduled June 15th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
