Biloxi City Councilman to Donate Money to M.L.K. Celebration

Tuesday at the Biloxi City Council meeting, Ward 2 councilman, Felix Gines, has a proposition for the council.

Gines would like to give $1,000 to the Coast’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration coming up on January 19th that originally started in Biloxi 20 years ago. The celebration includes poetry readings, a women’s symposium, and the infamous marching band Battle of the Bands contest.

Gines says, “The City of Biloxi has always supported the Martin Luther King celebration and we just wanted a token of support to show that we are supporting the celebration.”

The celebration will take place at noon on January 19th at the Gulfport Milner stadium.
