Biloxi City Council Still on the Fence About Tree Council

Jerry Creel and developers worry the tree committee would have too much control and may slow down development in Biloxi. Advocates believe the trees should be made a priority, as they are one of the few historic landmarks on the Coast. Before the council makes a decision, they want to ensure a member of the Biloxi Development Review Committee will be represented.

Creel, Community Development Director for Biloxi, says, “I think there’s some things that the council would like to see added to the ordinance that was proposed. We think we presented them with a good ordinance that gave the tree committee the advisory capacity to do a number of things.”

Revisions to the ordinance are expected to be made in time for Biloxi’s next City Council meeting.
