Biloxi City Council discusses budget changes
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The Biloxi City Council gave residents a chance to weigh in on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget during a public hearing.
Council members are expected to approve the city’s tax rate, which includes a one-mill increase. Biloxi’s tax levy has not increased since 1996 and has remained unchanged since 2001.
The budget process has at times sparked heated debate among city leaders.
WXXV spoke with Council President Paul Tisdale, who says the heavy lifting is done and the budget is nearing the finish line.
The city has a September 15 deadline to put a finalized budget together and the new fiscal year begins in exactly a month.
