Biloxi City Council approves budget
The Biloxi Lions Club held a meeting this afternoon and the special guest speaker was Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich.
At the meeting, Mayor Gilich spoke about the recently approved budget and the programs it will fund. The city plans to move forward with a number of projects that have been on the table since this year. Some of these projects include the restoration of Howard Avenue, adding two new fire stations and building a boardwalk along the seawall to help prevent sand from blowing onto Highway 90.
“Our revenues are equaling the expenditures without impacting the citizens when it comes to taxes. It frees us up to do things, like we talked about, the sea wall, the Sanger, the restoration of Howard Avenue, a couple of the water drainage projects in Woolmarket, as well as two fire stations. So, we are ready to go,” said Mayor Gilich.
Mayor Gilich tells News 25 that the pilot project for the boardwalk will start near the small craft harbor and end near Kuhn Street.
