Biloxi church sells Christmas trees to change children’s lives
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — A Biloxi church is giving back to children in need this holiday season with their annual Buy A Tree, Change A Life project.
If you’re looking to make a difference this holiday season, Harbor City Church has the perfect opportunity – a Christmas tree that changes lives. By partnering with Buy A Tree, Change A Life, 100% of the proceeds from every Christmas tree sold goes directly to local and global organizations helping children in need.
“Our local partners are CASA of South Mississippi. We adopted our son locally out of foster care and we had a CASA worker on the case. I love CASA. They’ve been great for us, so we’re happy to partner with them again this year,” said Rod Wallace, Pastor at Harbor City Church. “We’re also partnering with Advocates For Freedom (AFF). They deal with human trafficking all along this region, just to combat human trafficking in our area. So, we’re happy to partner with those local organizations to really make a difference.”
Pastor Wallace says this is the third year his church has come together to make the Christmas tree farm happen, and volunteers are out daily, putting in work to get every tree sold.
“It makes us feel really good as a church that we can come together and be a part of something that matters, and we can work hard at doing something good. And overall, we’ve had so many amazing conversations with people. We even have people at our church now, that are very involved in our church, that we met the last couple of years. They were just buying a tree,” said Pastor Wallace.
Even the kids are getting involved, helping to sell some trees and make a difference.
“I’m making a part in this, so I feel really blessed that I get to be a part of this organization,” said McCoy LaMonica.
And to add a little bit of fun to your Christmas tree shopping, Santa will be making an appearance at Harbor City Church on December 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and you might even see the Grinch there too.
“Come see Santa… and the Grinch… and buy a tree!” said Kameron Wallace.
You can stop in to buy a tree every day of the week until they are sold out. Below are the hours Harbor City Church is open each day for tree purchases.
Monday – Friday: 4-8 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday: 12-5 p.m.
Trees range in price from $40-$225, but if you don’t want to buy a tree and still want to give back, Harbor City Church is also taking donations.
