Biloxi cheerleader with special needs honored after being named Homecoming Queen
Homecoming as a senior in high school can be bittersweet, but for one Biloxi high cheerleader, it’s the memory making moment of a lifetime.
There’s nothing like football games under those Friday night lights, but for some seniors, it is the final opportunity to make everlasting memories.
There was a lot to celebrate tonight, but for two childhood best friends, it’s a night they will never forget.
Two by two, each student, accompanied by their guardian, walked amongst a packed-out crowd, heading to their designated spots as they awaited to see whose name would be called.
Bailee Edwards is a senior cheerleader living with special needs and has been best friends with Abra Taylor Jr. since the third grade. He tells us what it means to see his dear friend win. “The queen, Bailee Edwards, we’ve been knowing each other since the 3rd grade. A long-time man. She did her thang man I’ll tell you that much. She did her thing.”
Bailee says she was in disbelief when her name was called. “Like I was freaking out, I didn’t know they was going to say my name at all. I heard it and thank you; I couldn’t be any happier. I thought I never was going to get it but it turns out I did, and it’s the best day of my life.”
She also thanks her friends and family for all the love and support. “Hearing people going for me. It’s like never a dull moment. It’s just awesome and it’s amazing how my friends are like that. I just love them all. I couldn’t be happier for them.”
Now that homecoming has come and gone, the two best friends want to leave their classmates and our viewers with some advice. “Man, make the memories last man, you only get one life, you only get one chance man, when it’s gone its gone. You got to make it last while we got it man.”
“Just keep it real, love from your heart.”
