Biloxi Breaks Ground on Popps Ferry Expansion Project

Biloxi drivers will soon have more room to navigate on Popps Ferry Road. Friday, city officials and the Mississippi Department of Transportation (M.D.O.T.) broke ground on a project that’s been years in the making.

The $6.5 million infrastructure project will make Popps Ferry Road four lanes in the 1.25 mile stretch between Cedar Lake Road and Gay Road. Acting mayor, Kenny Glavan, says this is a project the community has been desperately anticipating and can’t wait to see it happen.

He says, “This road is very heavily used and it has been heavily used with all the other infrastructure work that we’re doing and this community is growing rapidly. It sorely needed it.”

Work will begin in a few days and should be completed within the next 18 months.
