Biloxi Assistant Fire Chief Jason Davis wins Firefighter of the Year award

A Biloxi Fire Department Assistant Chief was named Louisiana, Mississippi, West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International Firefighter of the 2021-22 Year.

Assistant Chief Jason Davis has been with the Biloxi Fire Department since September 1998. Over the 24 years, he has had several duties such as firefighter, fire inspector, fire investigator, chaplain, and more.

He was promoted to his current title as assistant chief late last year.

Chief Davis was selected for this award out of 300 nominees across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

He says he’s humbled to receive the award and believes it could have gone to any member of his department due to the hard work they put in together. “I feel like we have the best team here in Biloxi because working as a firefighter, you know, so I give credit to all the captains I worked under and all the firefighters that I work with.”

Biloxi Kiwanis Club President Elect Scarlett Rogers-Green said, “He’s a very much involved community individual and that’s one of the reasons why we did put him up for firefighter of the year.”

The Kiwanis Club also donated $250 to a nonprofit of his choice. Chief Jason Davis chose the Back Bay Mission.
