Biloxi alum Colt Keith named Detroit Tigers MiLB Player of the Year

TOLEDO, Ohio (WXXV) — Last week, Biloxi High School alum Colt Keith took home some big time hardware courtesy of Baseball America as the Detroit Tigers MiLB Player of the Year.

Of all players in the Tigers’ system, Keith led the way with 155 hits, 38 doubles and 101 RBI, making him one of just 10 players in all of Minor League Baseball to crack triple digits in that department.

In 126 games across Double-A and Triple-A, the former Indian hit .306 with 27 home runs and 88 runs scored.

In May, Keith became the first-ever Minor League player to go 6-6 with two homers while hitting for the cycle.

Keith was drafted by the Tigers in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft, and is now the organization’s top-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
