Bill creating tax credit for food bank donations heads to governor’s desk

House Bill 1723 was passed by the state senate yesterday. This bill could help with food insecurity.

It allows for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for businesses that make a contribution to food banks.

With inflation affecting so many people, food insecurity is at all-time high in Mississippi.

Local food pantries have said they would certainly benefit from this bill because they rely on corporate donations.

The bill now heads to the governor for his signature.
