Bill aims to Allow Water on School Buses
It is a policy set by local school boards, but Mississippi lawmakers are taking matters into their own hands.
A bill, which passed the state House last week, says students are allowed to drink water on school buses. Republican Representative Becky Currie of Brookhaven filed the bill.
She says it is not right for people to put children “On a tin can in 110-degree weather” and tell them they cannot have water.
Democratic Representative John Hines of Greenville addressed the possibility of kids filling bottles with vodka instead of water. Currie said that, of course, would be illegal.
House Bill 348 passed the House on Wednesday. It moves to the Senate for more debate.
