Bike Biloxi growing in popularity with residents
Bart Luther is a bike enthusiast, who owns the Biloxi Bicycle Works and is the leader of Bike Biloxi, an activity that has become popular.
Once a month, Luther plans a gathering called ‘Bike Biloxi’ where he invites the community to ride with him to different locations.
Luther, who’s passionate about health and fitness, started Bike Biloxi to help people with their physical and mental health.
The free community ride is usually ten miles long.
Anyone is invited and welcome to ride on any type of bike and if you don’t have a bike, Luther will find you one.
Bike Biloxi has more than 900 followers on Facebook and more than 80 people show up to ride each month. Rider Brandon Saenz said, “Your body is going to tell you that you can’t do it, but your mind is so much more stronger than your body. You just keep pushing yourself and pushing yourself, like I was saying a week and a half ago, I couldn’t do these five, six, 10 mile rides. Now I’ve gone up to 13 and 15 miles. I’m tired at the end, but that’s the beautiful thing of it, it’s not a race. It’s a marathon. As long as you finish is all that matters.”
