Big Decisions in Biloxi
Big decisions were made in Biloxi tonight and some are great for east Biloxi residents.
The Council voted unanimously to temporarily pave roads in east Biloxi. The entire Council agreed on the desperate need to send relief to residents battling with the headache of the ongoing infrastructure project.
Other decisions made were on water rate increases. Those who use 5,000 gallons or more a month, which are 30 percent of customers, will face increases in their water and sewer bills. Councilman Felix Gines tells News 25 that’s not a decision he supported since residents in his ward currently use extra water to wash away dust caused by the torn apart roads.
In other decisions made tonight, the Council voted to subsidize the oversight to reduce cab fees from as much as $400 a year to as little as $25. Gulfport and D’iberville will now have to approve the measure as well. A representative of each city would join the Motor Vehicle for Hire Authority to make sure they are being fair.
